The Ones' new single "Ultramodern" comes off their forthcoming "sparkling" new debut album on indie imprint A Touch Of Class Recordings a label persistent in developing fresh underground acts such as Scissor Sisters, Xavier, Services as well as The Ones. The forthcoming album whill include production and remixes by Scissor Sisters, The Rapture, Mantronik and Dmitry (Dee-lite).
Known for their 2001 chart topper "Flawless" (co-written and produced by A Touch Of Class) reaching #7 in the official Top Ten U.K. Singles charts, and consequent encore Top Ten Status in 2004 on George Michael's Patience album, The Ones have stayed true to their underground NYC roots, digging into and mixing up the various sub- and countercultures of the big city life they know so well.
The uncompromising A-side "Ultramodern" shows a new harder- edged face of The Ones. Laying uptown boogie rap on top of gritty grime- core before diving into a vintage NYC- style chorus. "Ultramodern" draws upon The Ones deeply rooted city background and varied musical influences combining the old with the new. Production and Mix by A Touch Of Class is daring and edgy, holding no boundaries with their trademark bells and whistles injecting differently styled beats and surprising the listener with unexpected twists. The Dub varies slightly removing almost all the vocals and introducing "search and destroy" keyboards to push the dance floor over the top.
Bonus track "Picture Perfect" (ATOC Rewind Dub) (CD single / MP3 only) by the same production team is included to give the listener a further taste of the depth of the forthcoming album as well as to give in to the demands from DJs on getting a proper dub of this track.
The B-side "Blast", produced by Swiss DJ Kurtis give the listener a darker hypnotic late- night mood to the outer galactic reaches with minimal vocal appearance, showing that The Ones know their clubland. Included again is a slightly varied dub mix catering to the DJs needs.
